This wasn&#039;t a bad wine, yet it was disappointing. Here I am at a party, and there&#039;s a lot of open bottles of wine. This one? Maybe not. That one, hmmm. Ahh: I spot a Grand Cru St Emilion. Okay, that&#039;s what I&#039;ll drink. And yet, it wasn&#039;t much like what I was expecting. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The nose was wood, fruit, cherry, stems, saw dust, river rock, and a very subtle vanilla.The taste was black cherry, and maybe blackberry and/or plum. The vanilla was there too, and still very subtle. The body was medium and it was dry. The finish was black cherry, and very tannic (lots of stems). A bit later I found some pepper in the finish too. Surprisingly it was not as earthy as I would expect. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Again, this wasn&#039;t a bad wine. And later I found out it was about $15 for the bottle. So for that, it was very decent -- just not anything like what you might guess to be inside a bottle with a label reading &amp;quot;Grand Cru&amp;quot;.&lt;br /&gt;
